FORBES ST - THE WIDEST MAIN STREET IN NSW.

During the late 1880’s a settlement on the Forbes-Dandaloo Stock Route was developing, this small village was originally known as Trundle Lagoon. At the time it was a statutory requirement that a travelling stock route was at least 3 chains or 60 metres wide.

When Trundle was first surveyed in 1892 it was intended that the main street would be Parkes St (running perpendicular to the Stock Route)  However, as the village grew, the commercial buildings were built facing the stock route and Forbes St, as it was to be known, became the widest main street in NSW.
